Bad Bunny Biography & Wiki

On the 10th March 1994, Bunny was born to Tito Martínez, a truck driver, and Lysaurie Ocasio, a retired schoolteacher,  in Almirante Sur barrio in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico.  He was raised in a happy home where he used to help his mother with household chores.  Heartly a kid, he has always been a home-loving person with family rather than getting involved in the streets. He dreamt of becoming a singer since childhood. He attended church with his devout Catholic mother and performed in the church choir until 13, after which he developed a keen interest in radio artists. Once during a school performance, where he was a reputed creative and humorous chap, the musician was forced to wear a bunny costume bringing out his angry emotions when he’s photographed. This is where his stage name came from.

Bunny has two younger brothers, Bernie and Bysael; he includes his close friends in his family. His mother wanted him to become an engineer while his father thought of a baseball player. The University of Puerto Rico at Arecibo was the place where Bunny held his graduation degree in audiovisual communication.

Bad Bunny Personal Life

Proud of his homeland, Bunny lives in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, a municipality on the coast of north-central Puerto Rico, and loves his native house so much. He avoids crowds, loves a calm atmosphere, and lacks much social media life. His exotic car collection includes Mercedes G-Wagon, Bugatti Chiron, Rolls Royce Dawn, etc. Bad Bunny, who is vocal about Sexuality and also featured the theme in his ‘playboy’ cover story believes in being free to love whoever one wants. He makes sure to stand for others who need a voice while mentioning his sexuality as fluid. He often calls out homophobia prevailing in the music industry and features queer people in his music videos.

In 2019, Bunny had shared a photo of him with trap-era Cazzu kissing on stage. However, Cazzu swiped the rumors in an interview during a music festival in the Dominican Republic, stating that Bunny is a good friend. Bunny, who is a private person, is said to be in a long-term relationship since 2017 with beau Gabriela Berlingeri, a model, photographer, and jewelry designer. From attending events together to their coziness, instances confirmed their head-over-heels love for each other, until 2020 when he himself accepted the same. He announced that he’d tested positive for COVID-19 on 23rd November 2020.

Bad Bunny Professional Life

Bubby began writing and creating his own interpretations at 14. From 2013, he began publishing songs on SoundCloud, an online platform, naming “Get”, 2013, “Tentación”, 2014, “Just let me know”, 2015. During college, while working as a bagger at Supermercados Econo in 2016, Bad Bunny’s music as an independent artist on SoundCloud caught attention from DJ Luian who signed him to his record label, following his song “Diles'”.  He’s the one to introduce Bunny to Mambo Kingz, a production team who were astonished by Bad Bunny’s musical experimentation and eye-catching dressing style.

With no looking back, he earned multiple top 10 entries on the US Hot Latin Songs chart, including one with his breakthrough single, “Soy Peor”, 2017 collaboration with Karol G, “Ahora Me Llama ( Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart ), X 100pre, and then continued to make many more pieces of music, collabs and features in other music videos. Bunny became more hit after a collaborative video with American rapper Cardi B and J Balvin, “I Like It”, which hit topmost-1 on the Billboard Hot-100, in 2018, bringing a nomination for Grammy, followed by “Oasis” with Balvin, “Te Guste” with Jennifer Lopez and “Mia” with Drake, and more.

Bad Bunny’s Public Image

His songs “Yo Perreo Sola” and “Bellacoso” denounce sexual harassment, which was energized by the feminist protest in Puerto Rico against governor Ricardo Rosselló. Bad Bunny is a fashion icon. However, his clothes have few times been the talk of the critic and his music is considered vulgar. His support to disenfranchised communities like the transgenders, body-shamed, LGBTQ, shocked the masses, but not enough to let his morales down, Bunny has been exemplary-ally.

This year, Time magazine has tagged him as one of the 100 most influential people in the world on their annual list along with the title of the first Latin urban-music artist on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine.
